Shakira’s The New Mother In Town As The Couple Are Blessed With A Baby Boy On Tuesday

Finally Hips Didn’t Lie! Pop star Shakira and footballer husband Gerard Pique welcomed a new baby boy on Tuesday at 21:36 hours in Barcelona, Spain.

A spokeswoman for the 35 year old Colombian Singer said Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll gave birth to the newly born Milan Pique Mebarak reportedly by caesarean section last night. This was the couple’s first child.

A statement posted on the pop star’s site in English, Spanish and Catalan says that “just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth.” The statement also says Milan weighed approximately 6 pounds, 6 ounces, and that “both mother and child are in excellent health.” Shakira was admitted to the private Teknon clinic at 6.30 pm.

The baby was delivered by previously-scheduled Caesarean by a medical team headed by Dr. Carlota Garcia-Valdecasa.

The communique released by the couple and their family said, “We are happy to announce the birth of Milan Pique Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Pique, born Jan. 22nd at 9:36 p.m. in Barcelona, Spain. The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification. Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth.”

“I’d like to ask you all to accompany me in your prayers on this very important day of my life,” Shakira, 35, tweeted on Tuesday morning, before the birth.
